Mike McCarthy (Solo)

Mike McCarthy is an Australian singer/songwriter who threads together the elements of dirt box blues with open-sea folk. His blues infused guitar playing and thought provoking lyrics have garnered fans from Japan, the USA, UK and his home base in Australia.
Serious Face is McCarthy’s eighth album. Slide Guitar, Wurlitzer, Hofner Bass and 70’s sounding drums gives ‘Serious Face’ a fun summer vibe. Mike is touring ‘Serious Face’ throughout the summer of 2018 in band mode and solo, supporting artists including Ash Grunwald and Bob Evans along the way.
“From the thumping beat and long-faced demeanour of ‘Ordinary People’ to the refrains of ‘On Your Mind’ and the outro jam of ‘Thief’, ‘Serious Face’ is packed with beautiful musical moments that fit perfectly into McCarthy’s musical journey.” – Fin Marx (Grain Magazine – Brisbane)

Stephanie Cherote

Stephanie Cherote shepherds your ear into a secreted cavern of insight. Whilst finger-picking through pulsating waltzes and shadowy hymns, her melancholic poeticisms are unpacked by an elegant wit and the commanding gravity of her voice; a wildfire of crooning inflections reminiscent of Scott Walker, Lee Hazlewood, and Nico. She is currently in the studio bringing her sophisticated musings to life with a very special twelve-piece orchestra.

Sometimes classical musicians are lead astray by the lilting sounds of folk music. This is what happened to Australian Flautist Jennifer Hankin, leading her to the sound of The Emerald Ruby. Combining glittery ukulele, chirping piccolo and melodic vocals, she creates music that would not be out of place in a fairy's party.

I've recently started a solo project called The Emerald Ruby, which is a loop based folk project with ukulele, flute and vocals.
